PHILIPSBURG - On Tuesday July 27th 2010
In the presence of Notary Henry Parisius, the stichting Beroepsopleiding Advocatuur of St. Maarten (SBA SXM) officially came into being.
The (SBA SXM) has stated that their main goal is to offer lawyer trainees a professional course on the island of St. Maarten.
In this course the emphasis will be place on practical abilities of the laywer that is in training.
This course is a supplement to the three year course that a trainee lawyer has to under go under the guidance of a supervising lawyer or firm.
The subjects contained in this course includes; Behavioral law, an introduction to the advocate, civil code and the code on procedural law and the practical abilities.
The contents of the course that will now be given on St. Maarten, is the same subjects that is given to a trainee lawyer in Holland.
This course that will now be available to trainee lawyers on the island of St. Maarten is the initiative of the St. Maarten members of the Raad van Toesicht on behalf of the Advocate, in collaboration with the order of lawyers.
The subjects will be given to the trainees by experienced Judges and laywers. The course will start as soon as September of this year.
