Opening New Branch Office Cole Bay

Speech Henry
Parisius
at the Occasion of the Opening of NOTARY OFFICE SPS Cole Bay Branch Office
June 26-2009
It is with great pleasure that I stand before you today, for three reasons:
Swearing-in
This afternoon I was sworn-in by
the Acting President of the Common Court of Justice for the Dutch Caribbean
and Aruba: Judge Van Veen.
You can count on me, that true to my oath, I will
carry out my duties honestly, accurately, impartially and with due observance of
the confidentiality that the law imposes on civil law notaries. In short I
will continue to serve you with integrity and professionalism.
The New Name
I take great pride in presenting you our new name: NOTARY OFFICE SPS
You may have asked yourself what SPS stands
for.
Well the name expresses two
things:
My predecessor Jan Schaepman and his also his predecessor Jose
Speetjens are off-island.
Regretfully, for reasons beyond their control, they
cannot be here with us tonight.
Presentation of our Team
I am very proud to
present to you our team. Their names should not come as a surprise to you
because they are the same dedicated professionals that have been providing
services to you under Schaepman & Speetjens.
First and foremost I would like to give special recognition to those team members who under the tenure of the Notary Speetjens, Notary Schaepman and now under Notary Parisius have served more than ten years.
The pioneers
Please come forward:
Millicent de Weever, Office Manager with an incredible
40 years of service in the notarial business;
Zephanie Fleming, Corporate Secretary: 27 years
Olga Harrius, Legal
Secretary: 25
years
Melissa Rabess, Legal Secretary:
16 years
Patricia Laurant, Legal
Secretary: 13 years
The Familiar faces
Now I would like to call
forward some familiar faces of our team:
Ramona Deher, Financial Manager: on her way to 7 years
The New Comers:
I also call forward the other
team members
Carlannie Rombley, receptionist
Paulette Panthier, support
and last but not least our candidate civil
law Notary Lars de Vries who recently joined our team after
working 10 years in Curacao and before that 5 years in The Netherlands.
As you see ladies and gentlemen you may rest assured that you are in good and well experienced hands at Notary Office SPS.
New Branch Office
We are
opening this Cole Bay Branch Office to cater our clients in this important part
of the island and because it forms part of our ambition to increase our
professional services and legal advice.
Make no mistake, this small office is fully integrated with our Head Office in the Speetjens Alley at Philipsburg and therefore it will provide the full range of services to our clients.
Special Word of Thanks
A special word of
thanks goes out to all the people who have contributed in making today’s event
possible.
In particular I want to make special mention of Ramona, Alison Ritfeld, my
daughter Mari-Christine and my wife Carla, all them worked relentlessly.
I
also thank to our renowned local artist Ras Mosera who did an excellent job in
spicing up our office with his colourful Caribbean art work.
An Eye for the Community
Ladies and gentlemen,
at this special occasion Notary Office SPS would like to make a contribution to
the future of our community.
We all know that education is the foundation of
a prosperous society.
It
is heart breaking to know that on this island there are children going to school
with an empty stomach and without food for the day. Needless to say, that one
cannot expect those children to learn much under such circumstances.
Therefore we decided to sponsor for the full term of one school year the
program to provide breakfast to the kids at the Prince Willem Alexander
School.
I now call forward Mrs. Malva Brooks-Brill,
principal of the Willem Alexander School to confirm to her our commitment.
Opening of the Branch Office.
And now ladies
and gentlemen I invite Commissioner Xavier Blackman my wife Carla Parisius and
our Office Manager Millicent de Weever to assist me with the Ribbon Cutting
Ceremony.
The office can obviously not accommodate all of you at the same time, but throughout the evening we will have two hostesses to show it to you in small groups.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I wish you an enjoyable evening.
